GOOD LEADERSHIP GOES THROUGH LOVE
«Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends...» John 15: 13
Good leadership is essential in the growth of all organizations. Whether within a government, agency, at work or in a church. A good leader will build and build a strong and effective organization. Beyond this organization, the leader works primarily with people. I learned over time that people rarely leave an organization ... but some people!
To work with people, there is an element that a good leader must absolutely possess: love. The love for those they work with. Christ, who is the ultimate model of leadership, embodied the fruit of the spirit. "No one has greater love than to lay down one's life for his friends." John 15: 13. Being a leader is first offering oneself as gift to those we drive. Giving oneself in order to contribute to the welfare, to the growth and to the advancement of those who follow us. It is through love that did Christ everything for us and accepted the most shameful death.
David before he became king, was a shepherd and had to take care of his father's sheep. And what could drive a young man to risk his life to save a sheep? The love for his flock. (See 1 Samuel 17: 31-36). When David says in Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want ..." He knows what he's talking, he was himself a shepherd and took care of love, that his flock lacks nothing. This is what Christ did for us and this is also what we need to do as ... shepherd.
How to recognize a leadership based on love? He will be patient, kindly, not envious, is not brag, does not swell with pride, will not rude, does not seek its own interests, does not irritate, hopes all things, endures all things According to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.
Taking care of someone takes love. Wanting the best for a person takes love. Being ready to give everything in order to see the growth of a person, again ... takes love. Beyond the background, experience, resources, talents that a leader can have, good leadership ...goes through love. "If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have utter faith, one that moves mountains, but have not love, I am nothing ..." 1 Corinthians 13.2.
